Metabolism & Obesity

What is Obesity?

Obesity is a complex health issue highly prevalent in the United States, characterized by excess body fat and potential health complications. Diagnosis typically involves assessing the Body Mass Index (BMI), yet obesity's roots extend beyond mere weight and height measurements. Contributing factors encompass genetic predispositions, hormonal imbalances like hypothyroidism and PCOS, as well as lifestyle habits.

What health conditions are associated with Obesity?

Obesity elevates the risk of various health conditions, including hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, Stroke and infertility. At the Endocrine Center thorough assessments will be conducted to evaluate associated health risks and tailor personalized treatment plans accordingly.

How is Obesity managed?

Effective obesity management involves identifying underlying medical conditions contributing to weight gain, such as hypothyroidism or PCOS. Treatment strategies often incorporate dietary modifications, increased physical activity, medication, or hormone therapy, all tailored to individual needs. In select cases, weight loss surgery may be considered as a final resort when conventional approaches yield limited results.
